Amber Eldena Green (née Henderson), daughter of the late Mary L. Jamison and the late Monroe Henderson, departed this life on May 14, 2025, at her home in Philadelphia, PA, aged 73. Family and friends celebrated her life in a small memorial at Flemuel Brown Jr. Funeral Home, followed by a repast at her home in Interfaith House in Germantown, Philadelphia.

Born and raised in Harlem, NY, Amber was a graduate of the NYC public school system. She met and married her fellow Harlemite the late Samuel Green, and moved to Brooklyn to raise their children, Amanda and Sametta. Samuel and Amber were married for 29 years until his death in 2002 from complications of sickle cell disease.

Amber was also a child of God who attended Mount Holiness Temple (Hackensack, NJ) and later St Mark Holy Church (Brooklyn, NY). She was eager to share the Good News and offer a word of encouragement to anyone who needed it.

A dedicated public servant in her native New York, Amber worked at NYC Board of Education in the 1990s. She was active in the Parent-Teacher Associations of PS 241 Emma L. Johnston and IS 383 Philippa Schuyler School for the Gifted and Talented.
She later worked at the Williamsburg Food Stamp Center (F-21) until a stroke forced her to retire in 2011. The stroke stopped her from working but it did not stop her from loving the Lord, her family and friends, eating crabs silently by the dozens, rooting for Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes, playing Bingo and Pokeno and attending Bible study with her friends at Interfaith House.

Amber was also preceded in death by her brother, Monroe Henderson, Jr; sister, Ramona Henderson; stepfather, Zeb Jamison; stepbrother, Lenny Jamison; sister-in-law, Pamela Jamison; son-in-law, Jason Miller; niece, Alezha, and nephews Shamshideen, Jr. and Sieheen. She leaves a host of family and friends to cherish her memory: brothers Oliver Foote, Maurice Jamison (Lisa) and Richard Jamison; several cousins, including Sheila; sisters-in-law Audrey, Yvonne, Geraldine, and Diane; daughters Amanda (Timothy) and Sametta, grandchildren Nathan (Jakhira), Ava (Christian), Tallulah, Josiah, Yvette, and Samuel; great grandson, Marcellus, whom she was thrilled to meet; Hafeez Hoyt, Sean Foote, and many more nieces and nephews; plus many dear friends like Bishop Smalls, Velgene, Lesley, Jennifer, Tippi, Michelle B, Ms. Gwen, and countless friends and neighbors in NYC, NJ, Philadelphia, and beyond.

To honor Amber's life, please donate to Whosoever Gospel Mission https://www.whosoevergospel.org in her memory. She could see their illuminated sign "Jesus Never Fails" from her window, and she believed that with her whole heart.
