A CELEBRATION OF LIFE
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod
and thy staff they comfort me.” Psalm 23:1,4

Amori Elona Terrell was born on August 2, 2006, to Shannon Moore Brown-Giles and Marquis E.
Terrell, Senior. She was also blessed with dad, Anthony Giles, who also played a significant and devoted
role in her life. Amori was called home to glory on April 9, 2026.

Amori was a radiant, determined, and compassionate young woman whose life reflected purpose,
brilliance, and love beyond her years. A devoted pre-nursing student at Bowie State University, in Bowie,
Maryland. Amori pursued her calling to care for others with unwavering focus and heart, embodying the
very essence of service and empathy.

Amori demonstrated remarkable discipline and intellect. Her academic journey was nothing short of
extraordinary. As a high school student at Early College High School, Horry County, South Carolina, she
was admitted to Horry Georgetown Technical College, and graduated with honors at the age of 17, with
both a high school diploma and AA degree in Applied Science. She was recently accepted into the
National Society of Black Women in Medicine.

As a National Honor Roll student, she continued to build a strong academic foundation at Galen College
of Nursing in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, before ultimately following her dream to attend an HBCU
(Historically Black Colleges and Universities) and ventured off to Bowie State University (Fall 2025) in
pursuit of her nursing career.

Amori was as vibrant in her passions as she was in her studies. A true foodie at heart, she found joy in
good meals and was a familiar and smiling face at Chick-fil-A. Her talents were beautifully diverse—she
played the viola with grace, expressed strength and discipline through gymnastics, and carried herself
with a quiet confidence that inspired those around her. A cherished childhood memory is when she won
the Little Ms. Delta Pageant sponsored by the Conway South Carolina Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma
Theta.

Above all, Amori’s heart belonged to her family. She shared an unbreakable bond with her beloved
younger brother, Ayden. Their love was deep and evident—she often became emotional when it was
time to leave for school.

Amori shared a deeply special and cherished bond with her mother, Shannon—a bond rooted in love,
trust, and daily connection. She made it a priority to talk with her mom every day, a reflection of the
closeness they held so dearly. She also remained lovingly connected to her Grandmothers, Barbara and
Geri, and her Grandfather, Mark, nurturing those relationships with warmth, respect, and genuine
affection. Amori’s love for her family was evident in the way she stayed present, intentional, and devoted
to those who meant the most to her. She deeply loved her fur baby Zoey.

Amori’s presence was unforgettable. Her smile could light up any room, and her voice carried warmth,
kindness, and joy. She was a dedicated and hardworking young woman who began working at the age of
15, demonstrating responsibility, determination, and a strong work ethic well beyond her years.

Amori leaves behind a legacy of excellence, love, and promise. Her light will continue to shine in the
hearts of all who knew and loved her. She was proceeded in death by her maternal grandmother, Patricia
Green.

Amori leaves to cherish her memory, her loving parents, Shannon Brown, Marquis Terrell Sr., and
Anthony Giles. She is also deeply missed by her beloved siblings: Jordan Giles, Miriah Garvey-Terrell,
Marquis Johnson, Marquis Terrell Jr., Ayden Giles, and Masun Terrell; and her cherished fur sister, Halo.

She leaves behind her devoted Grandmothers: Bishop Barbara Moore, Geraldine Muldrow, and Lynn
Terrell; and Grandfathers Mark Lawless (Mamma Renee’) and Ray Reed; and Great-Grandfather
Lawrence Charmichel.

Amori is lovingly remembered by her Aunts Nicoll D. Matthews, Shanica Brown, Dr. Lori James, Erica
Lawless, Kasheba Lawless, Shaneka Campbell, and Courtney Bydume, Donna Gallmon, Judy Murray,
Betty Wilson-Jones, Terry Wilson, Sherrie Wilson, and her Uncles, Anthony Brown, Bobby Abrams
(Marvis), and Christopher Reed (Cileida), Darnell Giles, Mark Muldrow, Jack Wilson, Skyler Terrell, and
Paul Long. She also leaves to mourn her Godparents, Dr. Leila Brumfield and Dionta’ Hunter and host of
other aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was loved deeply and held special bonds with her cousins, Maya Monroe, Ryann Brown, Bria
Matthews, Simone Abrahams (Mo-Mo), Brandon Matthews, Tony Diggs and Mike (Cinco) Smith. She
was supported and loved by Gloria Scott (G-Ma, Teanie), Nicole Mechling, Courtney Bydume, Rodney
Sullivan (Zay-Zay). A special bond will forever exist between Amori and James Carolina. She will be
deeply missed by her closest friends: Elia, Isabella and Dorian.

Poem from your mommy…
Amori, you have always been my heart. From the very moment you were born, you filled a space within
me that no one else could ever touch, and I will carry that love for you for all of my days. You were, and
will always be, a part of me—woven into every breath, every prayer, every memory. When I think of our
bond, it brings to mind the words of E. E. Cummings:
I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart)
I am never without it (anywhere
I go you go, my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling) – I fear
no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet)
I want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you
Here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart)

Amori’s Journey
We don’t think of her as gone away, her journey has just begun
Life holds so many facets, this earth is only one.
We will just think of her as resting from sorrow and tears
In a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days or years.
We will always think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched.
For nothing loved is ever lost….and she was loved so much.
We love you Amori,
Your Family
