Our beautiful beautiful mother, Ana de Jesús Parada Santos, was born in 1954 in La Unión, El Salvador, to Josefina Majano and Santos Parada. One of thirteen children, Ana grew up in the small town of Santa Cruzita, where she spent her childhood playing with her brothers and sisters in the Santa Cruzita River. She attended school every day with her brother and lifelong best friend, Enrique.
While still in high school, Ana met the love of her life, Mauricio Santos Navarrete, with whom she would share more than fifty-two beautiful years. They were married in 1979 in an intimate ceremony at their home in Los Planes de Renderos, San Salvador.
Ana and Mauricio welcomed their first child, Mauricio Jr., in 1976, followed by their daughter, Ana Lorena, in 1978. In 1980, the young family moved to Monterrey, Mexico, where Mauricio pursued a degree in agronomy. A year later, Ana courageously brought her two small children to the United States in search of a better life. There, she began her lifelong vocation—caring for the elderly.
In 1988, Ana and Mauricio welcomed their youngest daughter, Mariana, and raised their family in San Gabriel and Temple City, California.
Over the next four decades, Ana became known for her deep compassion, dedication, and excellence as a caregiver. In 2005, she and Mauricio fulfilled a dream by opening their own business, Golden Road Assisted Living, in San Gabriel, where they lovingly cared for their residents together.
In 2008, Ana became a grandmother to Olivia, who carries her grandmother's spirit. Ana and Olivia shared a special bond, spending countless afternoons shopping, laughing, and enjoying lunch dates together.
Ana was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was adventurous, loving, witty, wise, and remarkably strong—a woman of grace and quiet confidence. She loved word search puzzles, telenovelas, music, travel, great food, and meaningful conversation. An incredible cook, Ana found joy in bringing people together around her dining room table.
Ana's unwavering faith in God sustained her through every season of life, especially during her courageous eight-year battle with cancer.
Ana leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and faith that her family will honor every day. As our father once told her, "Ana, you are a miracle from God." We are forever blessed to have been loved by her. She was the calm and steady heart of our family—the soul of our family.
Mom, we will remember you, love you, and honor you, forever.
