Andrew Michael August

1958 - 2025

Andrew "Andy" M. August, 67, of Dormont, PA, formerly of Jeannette, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 11, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

Born on January 9, 1958, in San Bernardino, California, he was the son of the late Victoria (Gasparato) and Paul August.

He attended the University of Pittsburgh, Point Park College and Robert Morris, earning a Masters Degree in Computer Science.

He loved warm weather, beaches, reading and golfing. He even allegedly scored a hole-in one at one of his favorite local courses, Victory Hills. Nobody was there to confirm it...

Andy was also a huge fan of local sports and even though he went to Pitt, he was reluctantly converted into a Penn State fan by his son, Brendan. This transformation led to years of shared memories throughout the fall.

He was Brendan's biggest supporter, never missing one of his football, baseball, or basketball games. Andy was not just a fan but also spent years throughout his life coaching, helping to shape the character of countless kids in the community.

Andy was known for his kindness, warmth, and easygoing nature — he never met a stranger. He was also a lifelong animal lover and had a special place in his heart for dogs. He opened his home to senior dogs in their final years, spoiling them with love, comfort and human food. Andy was a familiar sight in the neighborhood walking the dogs, always ready with a warm hello and a pocketful of treats.

Andy is survived by his beloved son, Brendan August; his siblings Dave (Joann) August, Steve (Kellie) August, Margaret Lock (Marty), and Linda Fetchero (Jim); and his half-sisters Carol August and Karen August. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who adored their "Uncle Andy."

Andy will be deeply missed by his family, friends, former players, golfing buddies, and every dog lucky enough to have known him. His kindness, humor, and generous spirit will live on in the many lives he touched.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Andy's memory to Animal Lifeline Pittsburgh, a local nonprofit that aids at-risk and homeless animals — www.animallifelinepgh.org.
