Andrew "Andy" Norman Berg, a distinguished tax attorney, mentor, and lifelong New Yorker, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on February 12, 2026. He was 73 years old.

Andy enjoyed a long and respected legal career and was an internationally recognized expert in his field. Andy joined Debevoise & Plimpton in 1979 and became a partner in 1987. He served as Chair of the New York State Bar Association Tax Section and co-chaired several of its committees. He was also a fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and numerous other professional organizations.

Beyond his practice, Andy shared his knowledge as an Adjunct Professor at the New York University School of Law, where he taught Advanced Partnership Taxation. Over the years, he trained and mentored a generation of young lawyers and will be remembered as a generous teacher, mentor, and friend.

Andy bravely battled prostate cancer for over nine years, defying odds and surpassing medical expectations with his characteristic determination and fighting spirit.

Andy is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Gail, and their four children: Cheryl, Jordan, Regina and Amanda. He will be remembered for his intellectual curiosity, generosity of spirit, sense of humor, and deep commitment to family and friends.
