Anita B. Cameron died on January 7, 2026. Anita B. Cameron was born on June 28, 1939, in River Falls, Wisconsin, to Glen Mair Foss and Beth Addie Clark Foss. She was the youngest of seven children. Soon after her birth, her family moved to Hudson, Wisconsin, where Anita grew up and formed lifelong friendships.
Anita attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls as a music major, where her love of music flourished. Her passion and talent led her to make the bold decision to leave school and tour Europe with a professional choir—an experience that reflected her adventurous spirit and lifelong appreciation for music.
After returning home, Anita pursued a calling in healthcare. She attended the Ancker School of Nursing in St. Paul, Minnesota, from 1958 to 1961, earning her Registered Nurse credential with a concentration on labor and delivery. In 1980, Anita became a certified childbirth educator and spent several years teaching and supporting families during one of life's most meaningful moments. She returned to school at Stockton State College in New Jersey, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Anita's commitment to women's health and family-centered care led her to further her education at the University of Pennsylvania, where she earned a Masters in Midwifery. In this role, she combined medical expertise with empathy, education, and advocacy, making a lasting impact on the many families she served.
It was in Hudson, Wisconsin, that Anita met her husband, James D. Cameron, on the docks along the Saint Croix River. The two eloped and were married in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, beginning a devoted partnership that lasted sixty- one (61) years. Together they lived in Fort Lauderdale, Florida; Hudson, Wisconsin; and Boone, Iowa, before settling in Medford Lakes, New Jersey, where they raised their three daughters. They later retired to Flagler Beach, Florida.
Anita and James were the proud parents of three daughters: Julie Cameron Connors (Sean Connors), Jill D. Cameron, and Marilyn B. Cameron (Scott Adams). Anita was also a loving grandmother to nine grandchildren and a great-grandmother to three great-grandchildren, roles she cherished deeply.
Music remained an important part of Anita's life. She shared her gift of song by singing in church. Anita found great joy in gardening, along with the love of traveling and spending time with her family.
Anita will be remembered for her intelligence, dedication to learning, passion for music, and unwavering commitment to caring for others. Her legacy lives on through her family, the many lives she touched through her work, and the love she gave so generously.
