Anita Hernandez Cordero, 77, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 15, 1948, she was a proud lifelong resident of Clint, TX. She was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, beloved sister, treasured friend, and compassionate special needs teacher.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rogelio “Roger” Cordero; her parents, Julieta and Pedro Hernandez; her brothers, Johnny and Peter; and her niece, Tina Flynn Deo.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Denise Cordero, Lorraine McWhorter, Anne Marie Cordero (Bobby), and Caroline Cordero Baltier (Matt); her grandchildren, Roger Eric Jones Cordero (Amber), Asia and Miles McWhorter, Samara Lopez, and Gabriel Baltier; her great-grandchildren, Andrew, Carson, Baby Roger, and Kingston; her siblings; and many cousins and extended family members who will miss her dearly.

Anita was truly the heart of her family, steady, warm, and endlessly giving. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and unconditional love. As a mother, she offered not only guidance and wisdom, but also a steady presence that made everything feel safe. Her daughters knew they could always turn to her for strength, encouragement, and understanding.

Being a grandmother and great-grandmother brought her immeasurable joy. Nothing made her happier than holding her grandchildren close, celebrating their achievements, and watching them grow. They were her pride and her sunshine, and she made each one feel deeply, uniquely, and fiercely loved.

To her siblings, she was more than a sister. She was a confidant, a keeper of family stories, and a lifelong friend. To her many friends, she was loyal, generous, and always ready with a warm embrace or heartfelt advice.

Professionally, Anita dedicated her life to serving others as a special needs teacher. She believed wholeheartedly in the potential of every child. Her classroom was a place of patience, kindness, and hope, where students felt seen, valued, and encouraged. She celebrated every milestone, no matter how small, and made a lasting difference in countless lives.

Anita also carried a spirit of adventure. She loved to travel, whether exploring new cities, visiting her favorite place, Disneyland, or discovering somewhere new. Travel brought her joy and gave her stories she loved to share. Each journey reflected her curiosity and her appreciation for the beauty of the world.

Above all, Anita will be remembered for her generous heart. She listened with compassion, loved without limits, and gave without hesitation. Her legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the students she inspired, and the many lives she touched.

Though our hearts are broken, we are comforted knowing that her love remains with us in every lesson she taught, every tradition she created, and every memory we cherish. Her light will continue to guide us, and her love will remain in our hearts always.
