Ann Schaap

Mrs. Ann Marie Schaap (née Fennimore), age 94, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2025, in Oregon City, Oregon. A lifelong resident of Oregon and a devoted Catholic, Ann's life was marked by compassion, dedication, and deep love for her family.

Ann was born on July 26, 1931, in Mt. Angel, Oregon. She began her education at Thomas Grade School and continued at Mount Angel Academy. In 1953, she graduated from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, embarking on a career that would span four decades. Her commitment to nursing led her to serve in various hospitals throughout the region, with the final 21 years of her career spent at Kaiser Sunnyside Hospital. Her work touched countless lives and reflected her unwavering dedication to the care and well-being of others.

In 1954, Ann married LeRoy Schaap. Together they built a loving home and raised six children: Leroy, Paul, Elizabeth, Peter, Jennifer, and Thomas (deceased). Her family was the center of her world, and she found great joy in watching it grow across generations.

Ann delighted in the company of her seven grandchildren—Lewis, Duncan, Caitlin, Bobby, Emily, Emma, and Abigail—and took special pride in her four great-grandchildren: Lacey, Helen, Margot, and Rowan. She cherished every moment spent with them and found immense happiness in their presence.

Outside of her professional life and family commitments, Ann had a passion for theater and reading. She also enjoyed traveling but most especially treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren. Her warmth and enthusiasm left lasting impressions on those fortunate enough to know her.

A devout Catholic throughout her life, Ann was deeply rooted in her faith community. Her spiritual devotion was a guiding force in both her personal life and professional service.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Oregon City to honor Ann's life and legacy.

Interment following reception
