Anna Louise Ballerine, 41, passed away unexpectedly on August 14, 2025, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was born on December 5, 1983, in Crystal Lake, Illinois, and from the start, she lived with compassion, resilience, and a drive to make the world a better place.
Anna graduated from Crystal Lake Central High School and was a member of the Spanish Honor Society. She went on to study at Northern Michigan University and graduate with a Bachelor of Science and then later studied Paralegal Studies at St. Cloud State University. Her love for learning came from a genuine passion for people—she wanted to understand, advocate, and always be a voice for others.
Her career in community outreach wasn't just a job—it was who she was. Anna had a gift for connecting with anyone she met, whether it was through encouragement, a listening ear, or simply her kind presence. Her kindness left a legacy of empathy and acceptance.
Anna was also a talented writer. Her words carried the same warmth and depth that she gave so freely in person, offering insight and comfort to those who read them.
But above all, Anna's proudest role was being a mom. Her 17-year-old son was her greatest joy, her anchor, and the light of her life.
Anna is survived by her beloved son, Desmond Gleason; her sister, Christa Phalin; her mother, Jennie Kroeger; her uncle, Steve Ballerine; and her grandmother, Marion Ballerine. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Lester J. Ballerine.
Anna's friendships felt like family, rooted in love and trust. She gave her whole heart to the people she loved. Those who knew her will remember not only her kindness but also her honesty and openness.
Anna will be remembered as kind, loyal, and full of heart. She was the person you could laugh with, lean on, and trust completely. Her spirit will live on in the people who loved her most, inspiring them to carry forward her kindness and compassion.
