Anne deWilde Pennington Cook of Greenwich passed away peacefully at 1:20 pm on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the age of 83 in Sun City, Florida.
The daughter of Roeland deWilde Jr. and Grace Horner deWilde of Salem County, NJ, Anne was a devoted mother to Russell Ralph Pennington Jr., Kenneth Wade Pennington, Jessica Sami Pennington (who preceded her in death in 2014), and Heather Anne Arenas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton John Cook in 2013 and her first husband, Russell Ralph Pennington in 2009. Following an eight-year journey with Alzheimer's disease, Anne is now at rest, leaving behind a legacy of laughter and a profound love for her family and the beauty of flowers.
A memorial service to honor Anne's life will be held at 11:00 AM on May 30, 2026, at the home of Bruce and Cyndie Sherman, located at 57 Mickel's Mill Rd, Bridgeton, NJ 08302.
Born to a Dutch immigrant family, Anne spent her formative years amidst the serene Pine Barrens of New Jersey. Anne's childhood was characterized by idyllic days spent riding horses with her close friend, Carol Lee, creating lasting memories that would shape her appreciation for nature.
Anne's family owned wholesale greenhouses, and from an early age, she discovered her innate green thumb. Gardening became her passion, transforming her family's garden into a vibrant oasis that was admired by all who saw it. Her love for orchids bloomed, showcasing her dedication to nurturing delicate and exquisite flowers.
Beyond her horticultural pursuits, Anne revealed her talent as a seamstress, crafting intricate quilts and handmade treasures for family and friends. Her thoughtful gifts reflected her artistic flair and commitment to creating meaningful connections through her creations.
Known for her caring nature, Anne always extended a helping hand to those in need. Her generosity and compassion were rooted in her strong family values and unwavering faith in God. Family and faith have consistently remained at the forefront of Anne's life, guiding her actions and decisions.
