Anne Patricia Magnan, 77, of Belchertown, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026.
Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Anne grew up in Miami, Florida, where she developed a lifelong love of the outdoors, spending her younger years waterskiing and swimming. A talented flutist, she marched in the Orange Bowl parade as a young musician.
Anne's life journey took her across the country—from New York City and upstate New York to Oregon and Rhode Island—before settling in Western Massachusetts. Over the past five decades, she made her home in Monson, Palmer, and Belchertown.
Anne earned her Associate of Arts degree from Springfield Technical Community College in 2003, a proud accomplishment that reflected her belief that it's never too late to pursue your goals. She worked in many different roles throughout her life, bringing her characteristic curiosity and warmth to each one.
In 1988, Anne began a journey of recovery that became a defining part of her life. She found strength in community and shared that strength generously with others.
Anne had an eye for beauty and was an avid collector. She especially cherished time with her grandchildren, delighting in finding just the right gifts for them. In later years, she enjoyed reading, movies, and sharing her home with beloved cats—most recently her companion Sara.
She was predeceased by her mother, Patricia M. Grant; her brother, Sredni Vollmer; and her former husband, James H. Magnan.
Anne is survived by Lawrence Lucas, her devoted partner of forty years; her daughter Danielle Kaiser and son-in-law Jason Kaiser of Turners Falls, Massachusetts; her son Eric Magnan and daughter-in-law Jean Wu of Lexington, Massachusetts; four grandchildren, Sage, Audrey, and Julian Kaiser, and Avery Magnan; her nephew, Danny Vollmer of New York; and her cat, Sara.
A Funeral Mass will be held on January 27, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament 1945 Northampton St, Holyoke, and a Memorial Reception will be held immediately following at Summit View Meeting House 555 Northampton St, Holyoke.
