Anthony "Tony" Generous, 83, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025, in Plainfield, Connecticut.
Born on August 6, 1942, in Norwich, Connecticut, Tony lived a life rooted in hard work, devotion to family, and a deep connection to his community. As a young man, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps—an experience that shaped his strong sense of duty and resilience.
Following his military service, Tony dedicated 35 years of his life to the local paper mill in Sprague, Connecticut. After retiring from the mill, he continued to serve his community by working as a bus driver in Plainfield during his semi-retirement years. His work ethic and commitment were evident throughout every chapter of his life.
Tony was known for his love of family above all else. He and his beloved wife Nancy built a life together in Plainfield filled with warmth and joy. Together they raised four daughters: Melody Cormier and her husband Earl of Plainfield; Toni Gervais and her husband Michael of Norwich; Erica Lajeunesse and her husband Lance of Danielson; and Alicia Zurowski and her husband Justin of Griswold. Tony took great pride in watching their families grow and cherished time spent with his six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister Natalie Pierce of Amston, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Tony was predeceased by his parents as well as six brothers and one sister.
A man who found joy in simple pleasures, Tony loved tinkering with cars—especially taking cruises in his cherished 1967 Chevelle—and working on the family farm he helped build with Nancy. Their home became a gathering place for generations of family members during countless fun-filled picnics that brought everyone together under the summer sun.
Per Tony's request, there will be no services.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire the values he held dear: love for family, pride in hard work, and joy in life's everyday moments.
