Anthony Sion Jr.

1934 - 2026

Anthony Sion, Jr., age 91, passed away peacefully at Hope Health Hospice in Providence, Ri, surrounded by his loving children on Monday, March 23, 2026. He was the devoted husband of the late Lillian Hermine (Jaeger) Sion. Born in Cranston, RI, Anthony was a son of the late Antonio and Theresa (Cuiccio) Sion.

He was the loving father of Adolf "Ardie "A. Sion (Marianne), Donna L. Gallagher, Cheryl M. Rocco (Robert), Jeffrey A. Sion (Jennifer), and the late Brenda L. Murphy; devoted grandfather of Matthew A. Sion, Andrew C. Rocco, Christopher A. Rocco, Katie L. Gallagher (Colin Grant), Robert N. Rocco, Emily A. Gallagher, Samantha A. Sion, and Juliana I. Sion; caring brother of Ronald T. Sion (Tom) of Cranston, RI, and his late siblings, James A. Sion (Mary), Rosemarie Zaino, and Edward R. Sion. (Constance).

Anthony is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Anthony was a proud graduate of La Salle Academy, and a faithful and generous alumnus of Providence College. His professional life as CEO of the family-owned Federal Chain Company and its many subsidiaries that he created, realized significant growth through his vision, and he assisted many through his keen sense of business acumen and drive. He never really retired but, in later years, engaged in real estate as a broker and home appraiser, aided by his devoted wife Lilly who used her computer skills to assist him.

Anthony and his beloved wife, Lillian, shared a life filled with laughter, devotion, and the simple joys that come from time spent together and with family. Their bond was evident in all they did, creating a home where love, humor, and warmth were ever-present.

Anthony was a man who truly embraced life. He found joy in playing tennis and golf, spending time in the sun, and boating on beautiful days. Whether he was playing softball on the field at Nicky's Lounge in Coventry or enjoying a night of bowling at the former Cranston Bowl, he carried with him a spirited energy and love of camaraderie. A loyal fan of the New York Yankees and the New England Patriots, he followed his teams with enthusiasm. Music was also close to his heart—he especially loved the Rat Pack, with Frank Sinatra's "My Way" serving as a fitting reflection of the way he lived his life, along with the timeless songs of the Eagles.

Lillian, equally devoted to her family, found happiness in the quieter, yet deeply meaningful moments. She expressed her creativity through needlepoint, embroidery, and crocheting, and she lovingly cared for those around her through her cooking. She enjoyed playing mah-jongg and delighted in playfully competing with her grandchildren in traditional video games—often winning, to their amazement. Elvis Presley's music brought her great joy and was often the soundtrack to her days.

Together, Anthony and Lillian built a life centered on family. They cherished their children and took immense pride in their grandchildren, whom Anthony especially loved to spoil. Their home was filled with laughter, fueled by their shared sense of humor and their ability to find joy in both life's big moments and its smallest pleasures.

Their legacy is one of love, laughter, and family—an enduring example of a life well lived, side by side.

Anthony's funeral will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
