Antonette “Peni” Miller was born on January 11, 1952, in Providence, Rhode Island, and peacefully passed away on February 13, 2026. She lived a life defined by love, service, and genuine connection—leaving an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
Peni was the beloved daughter of John F. Lopez, Jr. and Anna I. (Lopes) Lopez. Raised in a large and loving family, she carried an unwavering love of family throughout her life. She is survived by her siblings Nancy A. Lopez, Denise Lopez, John Lopez III, Earl L. Lopez, and Victoria Jackson, all of Rhode Island. She was preceded in death by her cherished sisters Jacqueline A. Lopez (Jackie), Isabelle Lopez (Izzy), and Jeannie Lopes, whose memories remained close to her heart.
She was formerly married to Henry L. Miller and was a devoted and loving mother to Delonce Jones (Deana), Steven Monroe Jr., Michael Devine Jr., Denise Thurman (Rob), Lamaude Miller, and Tameka Miller. Peni’s heart extended beyond measure as she lovingly embraced her bonus children—Andrea Shaffers, Joshua Devine, Kyon Devine, Clifford Devine, and Bruce (Chino) Hansen—as her own.
Peni found her greatest joy in her grandchildren: Charmaine, Brianna, Delona, Delonce Jr., Jeyden, Maurice, Makyla, Stevie III, Sevyn, Jade, Michael III, Kaliah, Robbie, Jyla, Timmy, Laylay, and Shug. She was also blessed with five great-grandchildren, each living testament to the love and legacy she built through generations.
She was a proud aunt to her many nieces and nephews: Rayna, Rhona, Danielle, Michael, Paulie (Maria), Amber, Taraye, John, Neisha, Tarsha, Tiondra, Krista, Dalaysia, Dwayne, and Vincent Jr., who preceded her in death.
Professionally, Peni dedicated 33 remarkable years to Florida Blood Services, retiring as Director of First Impressions—a title that captured her essence perfectly. With her contagious smile, outgoing personality, and extraordinary ability to remember everyone’s name, she made each person feel special the moment they walked through the door. Her passion for the blood center and commitment as a community advocate touched countless lives and contributed to lifesaving work throughout the community.
Peni was also deeply cherished by her devoted friends, including her late dear friend Betty Sullivan, and lifelong friends Lula Brooks, Linda Elderkin, Evelyn Rogers, Jean Felton, Michelle Holmes, and Isay Gulley. Her friendships were rich, loyal, and full of laughter.
Known for her kind heart, love of family, and vibrant spirit, Antonette “Peni” Miller had a rare gift for connection. She showed up fully, loved deeply, and made the world brighter simply by being herself.
Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the love she leaves behind—a life truly well lived.
