April Melody McBride passed away on January 24, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
April was born on March 27, 1979, in New York and grew up in Bethel, Connecticut, where she made lifelong friends. Though she made Connecticut her home, she never lost her New York roots—she had a deep love for the New York Yankees and Giants, authentic New York bagels, and never passed up a good Italian combo or chicken cutlet grinder. She enjoyed listening to '80s music, spending time at the beach, boating, fireworks, traveling, sharing a good joke, and having a good time wherever she went. April was also a proud member of the Brookfield VFW Auxiliary, where she continuously gave back to her community.
April was one of those rare people who could light up a room with her smile, her infectious laugh, and her generous heart. Many would say she was the "Mayor" and truly, she left a mark on everyone she met. To know April was to feel instantly loved—she put others first, lifted spirits without thinking twice, and had a way of making everyone feel special.
She is survived by her father, Christopher McBride; her mother, Patricia Williams; her spouse, Alan Williams; her sister, Heather Mitchell, and brother-in-law, James Mitchell; her nieces, Chloe and Abby; her partner, Erin McCauley; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Her laughter, her stories, and her endless warmth will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but her light, love, and extraordinary spirit will live on forever in the hearts of everyone she touched. April was truly one of a kind, and the world was brighter for having her in it.
A celebration of life is being planned for early spring. Details to follow.
