Ardetta Maria “De” Wiegand, age 62, passed away on March 19, 2026, in Clinton Township, Michigan. Born on July 19, 1963, in Mount Clemens, Michigan, she was the beloved daughter of Ardetta Wiegand and the late Ronald Wiegand Sr.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from Walsh College and went on to build a successful career as a quality control engineer in the defense industry with General Dynamics. Her expertise and dedication were also evident during her work in the automotive industry, both before and after her time at General Dynamics.
De lived life boldly and with a sense of adventure that was unmistakably her own. She loved fishing, boating, and snowmobiling, always drawn to the the thrill of the moment. Never one to shy away from a challenge, she even went bungee jumping—just one example of her fearless spirit and willingness to embrace life fully. In later years, she developed a passion for cats, traveling and was known for her vibrant presence—often the first to arrive at any gathering, bringing energy, laughter, and a spark that lifted those around her.
She will be remembered not only for her accomplishments, but for her warmth, her sense of fun, and the way she made ordinary moments feel special. De had a way of showing up for the people she loved, and her presence will be deeply missed.
De is survived by her loving mother, Ardetta Wiegand; her siblings Mike (June), Michelle (Dennis), Dale (Shirley), Tom (Charlotte), and Eric (Julie). She was predeceased by her father, Ronald Wiegand Sr., and her brother, Ronald Wiegand Jr.
A memorial service is planned for this summer at her mother’s home; however, due to logistical and health considerations within the family, a date has not yet been set. Please contact the family in the coming months for further details.
Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. May those who mourn find comfort in remembering the warmth, courage, and joy she brought to their lives.
