Arlene Joan Schneiderman, a 30-year resident of Palm Beach, Florida, passed away from natural causes on November 23, 2025, still valuing her independence and the home she cherished.
Arlene was born in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up in the greater New York area with her parents, Evelyn (Burkhart) and Robert Relyea, and her half-sisters, Helen Charney and Dorothy Marie (“Dotty”) McClure. In her 20’s, Arlene married Norman Siegel and had two daughters: Jacqueline Silverman of San Diego, and Jennifer Haack of Dallas. Arlene subsequently married Peter Schneiderman, whom she deeply loved, and who predeceased her in 2021.
Arlene raised her daughters in Whitestone, New York and Sea Cliff, Long Island. Once the girls were grown, Arlene and Peter decamped to a permanent home in Palm Beach while maintaining a pied-à-terre in Manhattan.
Arlene will be remembered for her quick wit, keen business sense, and natural creativity. In her professional life she held executive roles in the cosmetics industry, owned an antique shop, and became a life-long investor in finely crafted silver, furnishings, and artwork. She and Peter bought, renovated, and sold several homes, turning each into a jewel box through her good taste, keen eye and eclectic style. Apart from business interests, Arlene loved foreign travel and derived great joy from preparing wonderful meals for family and friends, setting stunning tables with the treasures she’d collected over the years.
Arlene Schneiderman is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline (Steve) Silverman and Jennifer Maner Haack; her granddaughter, Leah Maner Haack (Hogan) Shay; her sister-in-law, Joan (Schneiderman) Goldberg; her nephew and niece, David Goldberg and Carrie (Goldberg) Burke; and her half-sister, Helen Charney. The family also wishes to acknowledge Arlene’s nieces and nephews — Madeline, Carolyn, Allison, Annie, and John (Charney), and Joey, Tommy, Danny, Bobby, Michael, Lori, John, Timmy, Jeffrey, and Patrick (McClure) — in recognition of the family ties they share.
Donations in Arlene’s memory may be made to Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League of the Palm Beaches reflecting her heartfelt love of animals. https://peggyadams.org/help/donate/
Arlene is buried alongside Peter at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida.
We will remember her. And may her soul be bound in the bond of eternal life.
