Arline Anna Gilstrap, lovingly known to many as "Anna Banana" passed away on January 20, 2026 at the age of 74 in Roseburg, Oregon. She was born in Stockton, California and spent her life surrounded by family, love, and the simple joys that mattered most to her.
Arline was preceded in death by her beloved husband Steve Gilstrap; her sons Ronald Castleman and Stephen Gilstrap; her sister Katie Brudernich-Escalante; her brother Raymond Brudernich; and her cherished granddaughter Stevie Nicole Bullard.
She is survived by her children: Julie Love, Rocksand Castleman, Jennie Firmanick, and George Firmanick. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Steven Higgs, Amber Reed, Heather Whisenton, Marcy Nelson, Jessica Clarno, Carolyn Castleman, Jacob Mackey, Elijah Mackey, Stephen Gilstrap, Sarah Gilstrap, and Crystal Vick, as well as 36 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a tremendous source of pride and joy in her life.
Arline—Anna Banana to those closest to her—loved being outdoors, especially camping, and found happiness in nature and time spent with family. She had a familiar saying she shared often: "Whatcha gonna do?"—a phrase that perfectly captured her down-to-earth spirit, humor, and quiet strength.
A celebration of life is being held at Julie and Arline's home in Sutherlin, Oregon at 1 o'clock Wednesday, January 28th. All family and friends are welcome to gather to remember Arline, share stories, and honor a life filled with love, laughter, and deep family roots.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Peace.
