Armand Jerome Robert (84) died in his residence at Grace Assisted Living in Nampa, Idaho, on October 18, 2025, following years of valiant fighting the various ailments that had attacked his body.

Armand was born July 10, 1941, in Bend, Oregon to Harold & Delphie Robert. He grew up in Nampa, Idaho, with parents, Harold & Audrey Robert and siblings Adelle, Arnold, Arlene, Searle (Butch), and Sheryl. He graduated from Nampa High School in 1959 where he was well-known for his wood craftsmanship, architecture, innovative handyman skills, public speaking awards, and for singing. Hunting & fishing filled every spare moment he had, and he became an expert sportsman at a very young age. Armand returned to Nampa to be closer to family during the last months of his life.

Armand had a successful career in sales & management working for Safeway Stores in Nampa; as a Frito-Lay Manager for 25 years in Idaho, Colorado, Wyoming, and New Mexico; and for Eagle Brand Snacks in Bend, Oregon. In addition, Armand was always working various side jobs (cleaning game birds, snow plowing, making turkey calls, playing Santa for events,...). He also pursued many inventions that filled his mind and even patented an animated goose decoy called "The Flapper" in 1971.

Dad was an incredible cook! He made everything from scratch (usually from the wildlife he got or the food he gleaned from the side of the road). His keen eyesight never missed wild onion, asparagus, mushrooms, apricots, etc. and if you happened to be a passenger in his car, you were certainly put to work harvesting the next meal seen along a fenceline.

Dad's entire life was full of adventures and near-death experiences which he kept track of in a journal. Hearing these stories was a fun part of every visit. Even after two heart surgeries, lung cancer, a major stroke (which took the use of his left side in 1999), a head-on collision with a semi, multiple sclerosis, and a large liver tumor... Dad barely slowed down. He simply came up with new ways for a one-armed/one-legged man to clean a fish, hunt, cook, and continue to live independently.

Growing up, we always knew Dad wanted to move to Bend, Oregon, and he was able to fulfill that dream in 1987. For an avid sportsman, Bend did not disappoint. Fishing at Paulina Lake, crabbing at the Oregon coast, deer hunting, and grouse hunting was only a short drive away... but this all paled when Dad discovered TURKEY hunting! He soon set out to making his own line of turkey calls and teaching everyone he knew about his new favorite sport. He was also an active member in the National Wild Turkey Federation.

In 1999, Dad purchased a mini-farm in Alfalfa, Oregon. He single-handedly landscaped the five acres, built a large barn, and designed and built outbuildings to house his doves, pigeons, and of course turkeys! Now, Dad could sit on the privacy of his own deck and shoot gophers, call critters, or watch birds catch fish from his large pond.

Dad collected people. He was blessed with countless time-tested and treasured friendships from work, church, neighbors, and through his passion for hunting & fishing. You could never run a quick errand with Dad in town without having to stop and visit the many friends he encountered. He often shared his B.I.B.L.E. (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth) journals with people he knew or had barely met.

Armand is survived by his sister Sheryl Ruud (Denny) of Texas; sister-in-law Pat Robert (Butch) of Idaho; and children: Tami Bridge (Quin) of Utah, Brad Robert (Wendy) of Georgia, and Dale Robert (Jill) of Michigan; grandchildren: Noah Bridge & Levi Bridge; Adam Robert, Cory Robert, & Luke Robert; Stacy Raab, Emily Chmielewski, & Rebecca Johnson; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the loving staff at Grace Assisted Living for their care and support of a disabled man who liked to have things done in a very particular way. He loved you and knew you all by name and he understood the lengths you took to make him comfortable and feel at home. Also, we wish to thank All Care Hospice, especially Nurse Molly, for being with Dad (and us) during the last difficult weeks.

We are especially indebted to the amazing people of Bend & Alfalfa, Oregon, who helped our Dad be able to live on his beloved farm for as long as he did. Dad loved you all so much and so do we! He was a survivor because of his tenacity, but in large part, he was a survivor... because of YOU. Thank You!
