Arnold Thomas Velasquez

Arnold Thomas Velasquez of Ignacio, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16th, 2026, at the age of 62. He left behind a lifetime of memories rooted in love, laughter, and determination.

Arnold served in the United States Air Force as a specialized aircraft mechanic and spent a large portion of that time overseas. This chapter of his life solidified his love of traveling and his appreciation of good food, which he shared with his loved ones.

Arnold was a man of many simple but meaningful joys. He loved to cook for those he cared about, often bringing people together around a delicious meal. He was passionate about woodworking in his shop, creating beautiful pieces his family will cherish forever. More than anything, the outdoors was his refuge. Whether he was spending his time camping under the stars, fishing quiet waters, or hiking through the mountains he loved, nature was where he found the most fulfillment in life.

Those who knew Arnold will remember his mischievous personality, his ability to lighten anybody's mood by making silly jokes, and how he made everyone feel like family. He was strong-willed, even stubborn at times, but that determination defined his character and carried him through life's challenges. Above all else, Arnold loved his family deeply and fiercely. They were the center of his world, and he was the center of theirs.

He is survived by his beloved children, his daughter Chloe and his son Cy; his son-in-law Javan and daughter-in-law Bailey; his siblings, Cecelia, Vida, Mike, and Jim; and many nieces and nephews who will carry his memory forward.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Della and Dan, and his brothers, Tony and Joe, who now welcome him home.

A private celebration of life will be held by invitation for close family and friends.

Arnold's legacy lives on in the stories shared, the laughter he brought, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and remembered fondly forever.
