On March 20, 2026, Arthur "Butch " Luce formerly of Shakopee, died peacefully in his home in Fort Pierce, Florida. His wife, Valarie, and family members were with him. His death was preceded by that of his parents, Arthur and Evelyn Luce and granddaughter, Katelyn Buscher.
He led a full life in his 77 years. Family and friends have memories of his early start as a bat boy for the Shakopee Indians baseball team. He was proud to be chosen for this position. During his high school years, he was part of a band, the Wakandas, that he put together with three school mates. It was a start of music performance for him that he continued throughout his life, playing and jamming with family and friends at every opportunity, always increasing his skill on guitar and harmonica.
During winters that he spent time in Jamaica, he learned to love and play the music of the island. Along with "the blues ", it became a strong influence on his playing.
Art and Valarie moved to Buffalo Minnesota in 1982 and lived on their farm where his huge annual vegetable garden produced fresh food that he gladly shared. Art and Val moved to Panama City Beach, Florida in 2003 where they lived near the water that meant so much to Art. Later on, they moved to Fort Pierce, Florida.
