Arthur (Art) William Lupia was born October 3, 1940, to the late Frank and Josephine Musso Lupia in Buffalo, New York. God called Art home on December 18th, 2025. With Jan at his bedside, Art stepped into Heaven and was joyfully received by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He was blessed in many ways throughout his life and especially by his beautiful blended family. He married Jan on December 31,1990 and they enjoyed 35 blissful years. Their children are Arthur (Elisabeth) Lupia in Ann Arbor, MI; Laura Lupia in Cheektowaga, NY; Sara Lupia Larson (Mark) in Tucson, AZ; Zachary Theus (Molly) in Las Cruces, NM; and Shanan (Isaac) Valles in El Paso, TX. His grandchildren are Francesca Lupia, William Lupia, Cameron Larson, Auberlyn Larson, Isabella Valles, Ava Valles, Matthew Valles, Zachary Theus II, Petra Theus, Elijah Theus and Micah Theus. Art is survived by many cousins, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and friends across our beautiful USA and around the world.

Art graduated from Hutchinson Central Technical High School, and went on to earn his degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Erie County Technical Institute, both in Buffalo, NY. He served his country with the Army National Guard stationed at Ft. Dix, NJ, for six years. After college, he worked at Wickwire Steel Company and Bethlehem Steel Company in Buffalo, followed by Concast Steel in Manhattan. In 1971 he moved to El Paso, TX to accept a position with Border Steel and soon became President of the company until retiring in 1999. Jan retired from her marketing business and they moved to Palm Desert, CA. Art hardly slowed down before joining up with a steel/nanotechnology company based in Newport Beach and began traveling within the USA, as well as Dubai, China, Jordan, Chile, Mexico and Canada before his 2nd retirement. For a time, they were between homes in El Paso and California before settling down in the Coachella Valley.

Hockey and ice skating were among Art's favorite pastimes, having been one of the charter members of the BMHA Regals (Scorpions) Hockey team in Buffalo. His love of the sport gave him the ability to coach kids in his later years. He also loved tennis, as did Jan, and they played to their hearts content, even going to Antigua many years in a row to attend Fred Stolle's "Tennis Week" where they played with, and were instructed by, Fred and other tennis greats like Jimmy Connors and Dave Emerson. Art also enjoyed music and singing everything from Mob Hits, songs from the 60's and 70's, Country Western and contemporary Christian music. He loved dancing, all sports and traveling, especially to Italy, Sicily and Israel.

Art felt blessed as Jan's founding partner in the ministry of Mama's House, established by God's grace in 2011. He served on the Board of Directors from the beginning until June of 2025. Hundreds of people joined in to help mothers in crisis pregnancies change the trajectory of their lives toward a brighter future. At the end of May 2025, Art and Jan departed and the ministry was thriving and debt free with 7 homes, able to serve up to 48 women. All glory to God for leading so many people to give selflessly in every way to bring those homes to reality.

A celebration of Art's life will be held in Palm Desert, CA. Due to the overwhelming love and response we have received, the service will be held on February 28, 2026 from 11:00am to 12:30pm at Wellspring Church in Indian Wells. If you know anyone who knew and loved Art, please feel free to share this information with them. All who wish to celebrate his life are welcome. No RSVPs required.
