Archie Granados was born on July 23, 1948 in Norwich CT to Benito Granados and Pauline (Perkowski) Granados. There were three older brothers who predeceased Archie: Benito "Sonny" Granados from Groton, CT, Jose "Cookie" Granados from Jewett City, CT and Manuel "Papoy" Granados from Norwich, CT. There are two offspring who survive Archie : G. Scott Granados from Grafton, Mass and Ariel Sullivan from Mystic, CT.
Archie graduated from Norwich Free Academy in 1967 and decided to join the US Marine Corps. He first served as a Helicopter Crew Chief during the Vietnam conflict. He was injured and returned stateside for the remainder of his four year enlistment. He was proud to be a Marine.
In 1972 he married his high-school sweetheart, Gail Evans. They resided in Norwich for over twenty years. During this time, Archie first started working at the Thermos plant. Shortly after, he joined Electric Boat for over 15 years as an electrician. After a work injury at EB, he was unable to continue in that job and finally could start his dream job - commercial fishing. He became known for his reeling out on Long Island Sound and would catch pounds of stripers, tuna and whatever was running, to be delivered to Fulton Fish Market in New York City. Over the course of two years he caught enough striped bass to put his son through college. About the year 2000, he met Eva Greenwood who became his partner until her death in 2025. In his last few years, Archie spent time driving around to his favorite spots with his loving daughter Ariel, joking around, and drinking frappes together. His family remembers him as an endless well of knowledge and facts on many topics, and a jokester who always kept those around him laughing.
