Ashley Mae Reid Caro, 84, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026. Born in Orlando, she lived a life defined by steadiness, compassion, and quiet dedication to family and service.
After graduating from high school in the late 1950s, Ashley Mae pursued training in nursing and medical support, working in civilian healthcare settings that frequently served military personnel and their families during the early 1960s. It was through this medical environment, connected to Air Force medical services, that she met Victor Manuel Reid Caro, then beginning his career as an Aerospace Medical Service Specialist in the U.S. Air Force. Their shared exposure to military medicine and patient care laid the foundation for a lifelong partnership rooted in discipline, mutual respect, and service.
In later years, Ashley Mae focused on family life and community involvement, supporting Victor through his military transition and subsequent career in medical technology. She was remembered for her calm judgment, discretion, and the quiet strength with which she anchored her family.
She is survived by her children John Reid and Michael Caro, and by her grandchildren Sophie Reid, Ashley Reid, and Daniel Caro, who carry forward her care, integrity, and resilience.
