Atef Ghatas, a devoted husband, father, brother, and faithful servant of God, passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord at the age of 72 on February 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family in Pennsylvania and all around the world.
Born in Egypt, Atef immigrated to the United States with dreams of building a better life for his family for which he fulfilled. Atef and his family settled in Pennsylvania, where they built their home and deepened their roots. It was here that he found great fulfillment in both his professional life and his spiritual journey.
Atef’s true joy, was found in his deep faith and unwavering commitment to his Coptic Orthodox Church. A faithful servant for decades, he served with the utmost humility and dedication—whether through volunteering, negotiating, supporting church events, or simply offering a kind word and a listening ear to those in need.
Above all, Atef was a man of profound love and warmth. He was the cherished husband of his devoted wife, Fifi, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage filled with mutual respect, laughter, and enduring partnership. As a father to his son Mark, he was a guiding light—patient, encouraging, and always ready with wise counsel or a proud smile. Atef was and is a beloved brother whose generosity and protective nature touched his siblings and extended family deeply.
Known throughout the community for his contagious smile, laughter, and genuine joy, Atef had a rare gift for making everyone he met feel seen and valued. Whether greeting regulars at his restaurants, or quietly helping a neighbor in need, he radiated the kindness that left a lasting impression on all who knew him. His generous spirit extended to charitable causes close to his heart, and he never hesitated to lend a hand or open his home to those who needed support.
Atef is survived by his loving wife, Fifi; his son, Mark; his cherished siblings; and a wide circle of family members, friends, and community members whose lives he brightened immeasurably.
Funeral services will be held at his Coptic Orthodox Church in Pennsylvania, with prayers and tributes reflecting his faithful life in the Coptic tradition.
