Audrey Faye Gordon

Audrey Faye Gordon, affectionately called "Ollie," age 64, was born on September 2, 1961, to Albert Akins, Sr. and Madeline Johnson-Akins in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee.

At the age of four, Audrey relocated with her family to Gary, Indiana. She confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Charles Prothro. Audrey graduated in 1981 from Lew Wallace High School and in 1985, she moved to Chicago, Illinois where she was employed by several organizations with her longest tenue being at Warner Bros. Entertainment. Audrey had a deep love for her family, which she expressed through her passion for cooking, often bringing loved ones together around the table for food, fellowship, laughter, and unforgettable moments. Her warmth, humor, and compassion were felt by all who knew her. Audrey loved to travel and see new places with her favorite getaway location being the Wisconsin Dells in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin.

Audrey is preceded in death by her husband, John Gordon, parents, Albert Akins, Sr., and Madeline Akins and Thomas Lee Lyles and Vera Lou Lyles, sisters, Vera Jean Hill, Theresa Atwood, and Emma Donald, brothers, Albert Akins, Jr., Carl Akins, Willie C. Akins, Bernard Akins, and Johnny Akins.

Those left to cherish her memories forever are her sisters, Mary Birdsong (Gary, Indiana) and Barbara Akins (Birmingham, Alabama). Brother, Alfonzo Akins (Mount Pleasant, Tennessee). Honorary brother, Alvin Mullen (Chicago, Illinois) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, co-workers, and friends.

Visitation, Saturday April 11, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. All services at Pilgrim Rest M. B. Church 977 Chase Street Gary, Indiana 46404. Pastor Charles E. Adams Sr. Officiating. Interment Oak Hill Cemetery.
