Augusta "Mimi" Harrison passed away peacefully at home on February 5th following a courageous battle with lymphoma. She lived her life with grace, warmth, and a deep devotion to the people she loved.
Mimi was raised in Savannah, Georgia, where her vibrant spirit and kindness were evident from an early age. She attended Savannah Country Day School before graduating from The Ethel Walker School in Simsbury, Connecticut, in 1993. Many of her happiest memories were formed during summers at Camp Merrie-Woode, where she was both an enthusiastic camper and later a beloved counselor, forging friendships that would last a lifetime.
She continued her education at Tulane University, majoring in Spanish and spending her junior year studying in Madrid — an experience that reflected her adventurous nature and curiosity about the world. She graduated in 1997 and made her debut in Savannah in 1994, surrounded by family and lifelong friends.
After moving to New York, Mimi married the love of her life, John Bradley Harrison, in 2002. Together they built a beautiful life grounded in partnership, laughter, and unwavering support for one another.
Mimi began her professional career at the U.S. Council for International Business, but her true calling was helping others live healthier lives. She pursued that passion at New York University, earning her Masters of Science along with her RD, CDN, and CDE credentials. As a nutritionist at Mount Sinai Hospital, she cared deeply for her patients, guiding them with both expertise and compassion. During the pandemic, she seamlessly transitioned to telemedicine, allowing her meaningful work to continue when her family relocated to Beaufort, South Carolina.
Mimi embraced life fully. She loved horseback riding, dancing, and singing along to Coldplay, and she rarely passed up an opportunity to celebrate or gather with friends. Her joy was contagious, her laughter unforgettable, and her presence brought comfort to those around her.
Above all, Mimi was a devoted wife and an extraordinary mother. Her children were the center of her world, and she poured her heart into nurturing, encouraging, and loving them. She was the kind of friend who met people exactly where they were — with empathy, sincerity, and an open heart.
She is survived by her husband, John Bradley Harrison, and their beloved children, Charles "Charlie" Augusta Harrison, 17, and Hugh Sanford Harrison, 5. She is also lovingly remembered by her parents, Lucille Orr Morrison and Mills Lane Morrison; her brothers, Mills Lane Morrison, Jr. (Julia Davis) and Hugh Comer Morrison (Eleanor LaBorde); her nieces Lucille Porter "Lucy" Morrison, Charlotte Elizabeth Schwebel, and Georgia Scott Schwebel; and her nephews Mills Lane Morrison III and John Haywood "Harry" Morrison.
Mimi was truly beautiful inside and out — a radiant soul whose generosity, strength, and love touched everyone fortunate enough to know her. Though her time here was far too short, the light she brought into the world will continue to shine through the countless lives she shaped.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at The Rhett House Inn in Beaufort, South Carolina, on Saturday, February 28th from 4:00-6:30 p.m. A memorial service will take place at Nemours Plantation in Yemassee, South Carolina, on Sunday, March 1st at 11:00 a.m.
An additional service will be held in New York City on Saturday, March 7th 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Goldwurm Auditorium 1st Floor Mt Sinai 1425 Madison Ave New York, NY. For those that wish to gather afterwards, for some food and beverages, likely on the Upper West side, a location will be announced at Mt. Sinai, posted on facebook, and legacy.com.
