Barbara Chafin Anchors, 83, died peacefully on November 25, 2025, of complications from a stroke. She was born May 10, 1942, in Atlanta, GA, to Horace and Mary Jo Chafin. She grew up in Cascade Heights and still remained close to her childhood friends. She was just 16 when she met and fell in love with Jimmy, whom she later married at age 20. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary in September.
Barbara loved flowers and gardening. She was a Cobb County Master Gardener and was happiest planting and "digging in the dirt" from sun up to sun down. Her gardens were her pride and joy. She was a big cat lover, and always had at least one or two her entire life. Barbara was a loyal friend to many throughout her life. She had many close lifelong friendships, and she cherished and nurtured each one. She lived in East Cobb for 55 years, where many neighbors became precious friends.
Barbara's greatest joy was the family she and Jimmy created together. Traveling and family vacations were abundant through the years, creating loving memories to be cherished forever. Her grandchildren made her world complete. Ella and Owen were truly the lights of her life. There were very few recitals, swim meets, or baseball games she ever missed, and there were family dinners almost every week.
She is survived by her husband, Jim; daughter, Kim Anchors; son, Brad Anchors; daughter-in-law, Kristin Anchors; and grandchildren, Ella and Owen Anchors, of Dunwoody, GA.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 21st, at 2:00 at Dunwoody United Methodist Church, 1548 Mt. Vernon Rd, Dunwoody 30338. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Good Mews Animal Foundation, Marietta, GA, or to your favorite charity in her name.
