With deep sorrow, I share the passing of my beloved sister, Barbara Armour, on March 2,2026. She was more than just my sister, she was my hero and best friend.
She is survived by her sister, Betsy Armour; her nephews Brian Surdyk [Barbara] and Alan Armour; and her niece Jessica Armour. Barbara was predeceased by her loving parents, Alan and Barbara Armour of South Holland; her brother, Alan Armour of Hayward, Wisconsin; and Allison Ast [Gregory] of Kissimmee, Florida.
After graduate school, Barb headed East and began a long and successful career in Washington D.C with AT&T. She began in sales but ended in the role as a Senior Vice President with the Department of Defense. Barb received many awards and promotions throughout her tenure, but never cared about the recognition. She was humble. She stated her greatest success and strength was helping her team achieve their goals. What a legacy she left behind to those lucky enough to work for and with her.
She retired early to San Diego where her days were filled with playing tennis, gardening, volunteering for various animal charities, reading and relaxing all the while listening to her beloved Rock N Roll!
Barb leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, intelligence, a great sense of humor, unwavering love and support for those she cared about, a passion for animals, and countless memories that will remain in our hearts forever. We are better for having known her, but oh how she will be missed.
Per Barb's request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, honor Barb by giving to greatergood.org to help save the dogs of Ukraine.
