Barbara Sue Clark

Barbara Clark, a woman of deep wisdom, creative spirit, and quiet strength, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on April 7, 2026, at the age of 88.

Born on July 2, 1937, in Guthrie, Oklahoma, Barbara's journey carried her far in both geography and spirit, ultimately planting roots in San Diego, where she spent the latter half of her life. There, she became a beloved presence in a wide and diverse community, touching lives across many paths.

Barbara began her professional life in the world of numbers, building a successful career as an accountant and rising to the role of Chief Financial Officer at the International Professional School of Bodywork (IPSB). Yet her life unfolded far beyond spreadsheets and balance sheets. Drawn by a deeper calling, she immersed herself in Eastern philosophy and became a devoted practitioner and teacher of Jin Shin Acutouch. Through her studies, writings, and classes, she helped countless people find balance, healing, and inner peace, earning recognition as a respected voice within that community.

Her spiritual path deepened further when she was ordained as a Taoist priestess by the Taoist Sanctuary of San Diego. She carried this role with humility and grace, embodying a life centered on harmony, compassion, and quiet understanding.

Barbara was also a gifted artist, known especially for her striking line-drawing portraits. With a few deliberate strokes, she could capture not just a likeness, but something of the soul itself. Her art, like her presence, was both simple and profound.

Above all, Barbara was a mother. She will be welcomed by her daughter Teresa, who preceded her on transitioning, and is lovingly remembered by her other two children, Jeri and Dune, who carry forward her legacy of curiosity, resilience, and heart. She was also cherished by her 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sister Connie, brother Gale, as well as a wide circle of nieces, nephews, friends, students, and loved ones whose lives were enriched by her kindness, insight, and gentle humor.

In accordance with her wishes, Barbara will be cremated, and her ashes will be scattered at sea. A celebration of her life will be in San Diego on Monday, December 28th. More information to follow. In lieu of gifts, if you feel so inclined, plant a tree in her honor.

Barbara's life was like one of her drawings—elegant, intentional, and full of meaning in every line. She leaves behind a quiet but enduring imprint on all who had the privilege to know her.
