Barbara Dean (Lathion) Williams was the second child of ten born to Percy and Maggie Lathion in West Blocton, Alabama on March 3, 1936.

Barbara lived in West Blocton until 2nd grade and lived the rest of her childhood in Bessemer, Alabama. She attended Wenonah High School in Birmingham, Alabama.

On January 12, 1956, Barbara Lathion united in holy matrimony to Earlie Williams, Jr. To this union, they bore three children, Debra, Darryl, and Dorethea.

Barbara was a very skilled, creative seamstress who was renowned for her excellent work and reasonable prices. Her services ranged from simple alterations and tailor work to the sophisticated creation of wedding dresses, gowns, and headpieces. She worked as a salesperson of sewing machines at a SINGER retail store in the Evergreen Plaza (Evergreen Park, IL). She also worked at Carson Pirie Scott and Wieboldt's Department Store in downtown Chicago.

Barbara had a passion for singing and writing poetry throughout her life. She was a soprano and had a rich, operatic voice. She was a lead soloist at Chatham Bethlehem United Presbyterian Church in Chicago, IL. She loved to share her gifts at the churches she attended during her time in Illinois and Arizona.

During her adulthood, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. Barbara lived in Phoenix, Arizona for 17 years and relocated back to Chicago in 2010. She later became a member of Maranatha Church of God in Christ.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Earlie Williams, Jr., parents, Percy and Maggie Lathion, her five brothers, Percy Jr., Charles, Curtis, Edwin, and Michael, and grandson, LeRone Williams.

Barbara Dean Williams transitioned into glory on Christmas morning, December 25, 2025, in Chicago, IL.

Barbara leaves to cherish her memory: Her four sisters, Wilma Vaughn, Patricia Thomas, Gloria Evans, and Josephine Hooks. Her three children, Debra (Willis) Richards, Darryl (Kim) Williams, and Dorethea (Richard) Barnes; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
