Barbara K. Levin nee Serwer, 78
Beloved wife of Charles Levin. Barbara was a beautiful, intelligent, kind, and loving person. She grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and graduated from the University of Michigan, like most of her family and friends. She went on to receive master's degrees in library science from Dominican University (Rosary College) and the History of Art from Northwestern University. Barbara carved out a career in the Art field as a Senior ASA art appraiser, consultant and a private dealer of European art. Later she fulfilled her lifelong dream of living half the year in Paris with her husband, and she loved the French language and customs. Most important of all to her, Barbara was the loving and beloved wife of Charles (Chuck) Levin for 50 years. Barbara and Chuck fell in love on their first date, were engaged in 3 weeks and married less than 3 months later. Barbara loved travel, and with her husband she traveled all over the World to see famous art and archeological sites and experience other cultures. Barbara also loved fashion, and she never failed to look like a chic Parisian. Barbara's capacity for friendship and loyalty was great, and she remained close to her best friends who went together with her through grade school, high school and college, her close cousins, her Chicago neighborhood friends and her friends in other countries that she met on trips all over the World. Part of what made Barbara so special was that she always underestimated her beauty, intelligence, and accomplishments, and she had no need to display ego or be the center of attention. She treated everyone she met with kindness and respect. However, her greatest accomplishment was her unqualified love of and commitment to her husband Chuck for 50 years. They were truly inseparable.
