Barbara McAllister

1929 - 2026

We celebrate the life of Barbara Ann (Frattini) McAllister, 96, formerly of Simsbury, Connecticut, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
Barbara was born on September 14, 1929, in Barre, Vermont, the daughter of the late Louis and Mary Parnigoni Frattini. She was raised in Barre and attended Spaulding High School, where she formed many lifelong friendships and cherished memories. Following her graduation, she moved to Hartford, Connecticut, where she began her career working in the offices of Pratt & Whitney.
It was in Hartford that Barbara met her husband, Arthur McAllister. They were married on April 10, 1962. They settled in Simsbury, Connecticut, where they raised their two sons, Scott and Bryan.
Barbara devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family, which was her greatest pride and joy throughout her life. She was deeply involved in the Simsbury community, working avidly with the town’s recreation department. Among her fondest memories was a town-sponsored trip to Italy, an experience she treasured and often shared with loved ones.
A woman of many talents, Barbara had a deep passion for music and the performing arts. She was an active and dedicated member of the Simsbury Theater Guild, where she performed in numerous musicals, delighting audiences and sharing her incredible musical gift. Her love of music became a cherished bond within her family.
Later in life, Barbara moved to Fort Myers, Florida, where she enjoyed being closer to her family, especially her sons, Scott and Bryan, and her daughter-in-law, Sandra Fishell McAllister. No matter where she lived, Barbara’s heart was always centered on her family. She took immense pride in the lives and accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son Scott McAllister and his wife Sandra; her son Bryan McAllister and his partner Karen Myette; her grandchildren William McAllister, Katherine Calistro and her husband, Christian Calistro, and Karen’s children, Samantha Myette, and Sydney Myette; as well as her brother-in-law, Robert McAllister and his wife Dorothy. She also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Arthur McAllister who passed on March 22, 2015; her brothers Louis Frattini and Joseph Frattini; and her sister, Lorraine Beck.
Barbara will be remembered for her warmth, her vibrant spirit, her love of music and community, and above all, her unwavering devotion to her family. Her legacy of love, kindness, and togetherness will continue to live on in all who knew her.
