Barbara "Gaga" McCarty (née Costello), age 87, formerly of Gibbsboro and Berlin, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025, in Sedona, Arizona. Born on May 9, 1938, in Red Bank, New Jersey, Barbara lived a life defined by deep faith, unwavering love for her family, and a joyful spirit that touched everyone who knew her.
A devout Catholic throughout her life, Barbara found strength and solace in her relationship with God. Her faith was not only personal but also communal—she sang in her churches' choirs for decades, lifting others through music and worship. Her voice was a constant presence in the pews and a source of comfort to many.
Barbara's family was the heart of her world. She is survived by her beloved son KC and his wife Lauri; grandsons Kyle and Dylan; Dylan's wife Shannon; and their daughter Lily. She also leaves behind her cherished brother Bill and his wife Diane, along with numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Robert, daughter Patricia, sister Jean, and brother John. Though they are no longer here, their memories remained ever-present in Barbara's life.
Known affectionately as "Gaga," Barbara embraced this role with joy and devotion. She lived for her grandsons—introducing Kyle to music at an early age, sparking a lifelong passion that continues to shape his journey. She never missed one of Dylan's baseball games, cheering from the stands with pride and enthusiasm. Her presence was a constant source of encouragement and love.
Barbara had a gift for making people feel at home. Her grilled cheese sandwiches were legendary among the children in her life—simple yet made with such care that they became unforgettable. These small acts of love defined who she was: nurturing, attentive, and always ready to offer comfort.
Her warmth extended beyond family into every corner of her community. Whether through song or simple kindnesses shared over the years, Barbara left an indelible mark on those around her.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
