Barbara Meek

Barbara Jean Meek (née Smith) passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025, in Huntington, New York. She was born on May 26, 1927, in Greenville, Ohio, the only child of Carleton C. Smith and Elsie Stewart Smith.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Richard A. Meek, and son, Thomas Stewart Meek.

She was raised in Richmond, Ind., where she graduated from Richmond High School and married shortly thereafter in 1945 at Reid Presbyterian Church. She and Richard moved to NY in 1947, where they remained to raise their family.

She enjoyed being a homemaker, reading, gardening, playing bridge, and her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She is survived by daughter, Jennifer, of San Diego, daughter-in-law, Nancy, of Massapequa, NY, three grandsons, Richard of Zurich, Switzerland, James, of Farmingdale, NY, and Christopher, of Los Angeles, CA, and great-grandaughters, Sofia and Scarlett, of Farmingdale, NY.

No funeral services will be held. She will be interred at Dayton Memorial Park, Dayton, Ohio.
