Barbara Kay Salau

Mrs. Barbara Kay (Seal) Salau, age 81, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, in Bakersfield, California. Born in Bakersfield on April 24, 1944, to Wilson Seal and Ruth Flick Seal, she spent her entire life in the city she called home.

Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend who cherished her family deeply. She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Salau; her daughters Regina Martin (husband Tracy), and Rachel Salau-Barce (husband Justin); and her brother Kelsie Gates. She was predeceased by her brothers Kenneth Gates and Alvin Seal.

Barbara's love for her family was unwavering, and she took great joy in staying connected with their lives and celebrating their milestones. Barbara had a creative spirit that shone through in her hobbies. She enjoyed reading, flower arranging, wrapping packages with care and precision, and crafting beautiful jewelry. Her artistic talents brought joy to those around her and reflected her thoughtful nature.

A woman of faith, Barbara had a love for God and prayed daily for her loved ones. Barbara felt closest to God in nature, especially while watching the majestic waves at Morro Bay. She shared this love for nature with her family.

Barbara's memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her. May her legacy of love and creativity continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Beaumont Seventh-Day Adventist Church 1343 Palm Avenue in Beaumont, CA 92223. From 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM there will be time to write your memories of Barbara for the family to treasure. There will be a small luncheon served after the service.
