Barbara Budde Sheets, age 63, passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026, shortly after enjoying one of her favorite hobbies: an afternoon walk surrounded by nature near her Tennessee home at Norris Lake.
Barb was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 8, 1962, to Herbert (Huck) and Dorothy Budde. As one of six siblings, Barb always had a deep love for family, vying for attention with her five siblings - Marianne, Joanie, Bob, Beth, and Tom. Barb attended All Saints School, Ursuline Academy, and Miami University, where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. Following graduation, Barb pursued a career in sales which was inspired by her innate ability to connect with others. Barb retired in 2018 after celebrating a successful 30+ year career in pharmaceutical sales. Barb's deep connection with others resulted in lifelong friends from both school and work.
During her time at Miami, she met the love of her life, Ted, proudly becoming known as a “Miami Merger.” A testament to the power of their long-standing love, they married on Valentines Day in 1987. During their 39 years of marriage, they had four sons, Teddy, 34, Ryan, 30, Logan, 28, and Trevor, 24. One of Barb’s greatest joys in life was being a mom to her boys and their many friends. A truly loving and fiercely proud mom, she offered unconditional love, plenty of laughs, and gentle guidance to her sons throughout every season of their lives, including during their time at Archbishop Moeller High School. She was always prepared to be their strongest advocate and softest place to land. As a prideful Cincinnatian and avid sports fan, Barb brought a similar enthusiasm and heart into supporting her favorite teams such as the Ohio State Buckeyes, Xavier Musketeers, and the Cincinnati Reds. In addition to cheering on her favorite teams, her retirement provided her ample time to enjoy one of her favorite activities: spending time in the great outdoors. Whether it was an early morning walk at a local park, a 5k supporting a cause she cared for, or simply a walk around the block, nothing quite brought Barb joy like being outside. But, even more meaningful than the time spent outdoors were the loved ones, including friends, pets, and family, with whom she shared those moments.
For those who had the opportunity to cross paths with Barb, above all else, they will remember her for her radical positivity and infectious optimism. Throughout her life, she had a remarkable ability to lift others up and make them feel seen, heard, and loved. This power, along with her unmistakable laughter, warmth, zest for life, and countless other traits, will be remembered by all who were lucky enough to know and love her.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Huck and Dottie Budde of Cincinnati, Ohio and brother, Bob Budde. Barb is survived by her loving husband, Ted; four sons: Teddy (Chelsea), Ryan (Addison), Logan, and Trevor; grandsons, Archer and Campbell; four siblings: Marianne Budde Wilensky, Joanie Budde Woodward, Beth Budde Pitner (Greg), and Tom Budde (Tina Baumann) along with countless loving cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. In lieu of flowers, Barb heavily encouraged that donations be made in her memory to Carmel Clay Parks Foundation or the Humane Society for Hamilton County, two causes she deeply cared for. However, for those who still wish to send flowers, arrangements may be made through Willow and Star Flowers.
The family will receive loved ones for a celebration of Barb’s life on Friday, March 27th from 3:30 to 7:30 pm at Broadmoor Country Club, 2155 Kessler Blvd W Dr, Indianapolis, IN 46228. A small family memorial service will be held prior to the celebration of life.
