Beatrice Jones

Beatrice "Dolly" (Person) Jones, age 84, of Gary, Indiana peacefully transitioned on January 8th, 2026, at Methodist Hospital. She was born on December 18th, 1941, in Gary IN to the late Archie and Curllie Person. Dolly was a proud member of Roosevelt High School, Class of 1959. Dolly was employed by Eastman Kodak for many years and later became the business owner of Dolly's Restaurant, where she was known for her warmth, hospitality, and dedication to serving others.
Dolly united in marriage to Jerry Smith on June 16, 1963, and was later remarried to Henry Jones on September 25, 1982. She was a faithful member of New Friendship Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Royce Thompson, where she served devotedly as one of the Mothers of the church until her health began to decline. Dolly was known for her beautiful smile, kind spirit, and genuine love for helping others.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Jones, parents, Archie and Curllie Person, and stepson, Duran Kincaid. Dolly leaves to cherish her memory: one sister, Clotine Ballard; two brothers Archie (Tanesha) Person Jr. of Gary, Indiana, and Darnell Person of Avon, Indiana; one stepson, James Jones of Miami Beach, Florida; special niece and devoted caregiver, Lisa Ballard of Gary, Indiana; special friends Gloria, B.J., Muriel, Marshanell, Ruthie McCowin, Mrs. L. Holmes; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation Saturday January 24,2026. 9:00a.m. till 12:00p.m. at Powell Coleman Funeral Home 3200 W. 15th Ave Gary,In.
