Beatrice "Lita" Rodriguez Lamey, age 94, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026. Born on November 7, 1931, in Harlingen, Texas, Beatrice lived a full and vibrant life marked by compassion, joy, and a deep love for those around her. She spent her adult life in San Antonio, a city she cherished and proudly called home.

Beatrice pursued her passion for caring for others by studying nursing at St. Mary's Nursing School in Galveston, Texas, where she met her husband of 23 years, Homer Lamey. She dedicated much of her professional life to working alongside Dr. Robert Kalter, serving faithfully for 30 years. Her commitment, skill, and kindness left a lasting impression on colleagues and patients alike.

Beyond her career, Beatrice was known for her lively spirit, fashionable style, and love of celebration. She found great joy in entertaining family and friends, sharing her talent for cooking, and dancing whenever the opportunity arose. One of her favorite traditions was attending San Antonio's Fiesta Week, where she delighted in the color, music, and festive energy year after year.

Beatrice's greatest joy was her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Julia and Jose Rodriguez; her husband of 23 years, Homer Austin Lamey; her brother, Paul Rodriguez (Gila); her sisters, Matilde Elizalde (Fred) and Dolia Longoria (Leo); and her brother-in-law, Andres Escamilla. She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Elma Escamilla, and her children: Melissa Lamey, John Lamey (Gay), and Sharon Myers (Ron). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Madison Lamey Freise (James) and Jade Myers, and her great-granddaughter, Georgia Freise.

Beatrice also had a deep appreciation for beauty and nature, reflected in her cherished rose garden. She took great pride in tending to it, finding both peace and joy among her blooms. Her heart was equally devoted to her beloved dogs—Pierre, Jake, and Chloe—who brought her constant companionship and happiness.

Beatrice will be remembered for her warmth, her spirited passion for Texas sports, and her ability to make others feel welcome and cared for. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity that will be treasured by all who knew her.

A Memorial Rosary will take place on Thursday, April 9, at 3:00PM at the Immaculate Conception Chapel at the Oblate School of Theology. At the Rosary, we invite you to embrace our mother's love of Fiesta fashion and wear bright colors in her honor. A Ceremony of Remembrance will take place on Friday, April 10, at 10:00AM at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oblate School of Theology: https://www.ost.edu.
