Benjamin Fielding "Phil" Phillips, 88, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2025, in Jonesboro, Georgia. Born on November 17, 1936, in Macon, Georgia, Phil lived a full and meaningful life marked by devotion to his family, faith, and passions.
Phil graduated from Lanier High School in Macon before earning his bachelor's degree from Georgia College in Milledgeville. Following his education, he proudly served his country for two years in the United States Army as a sergeant and Morse code specialist. His time in the military was a source of pride and fond memories throughout his life.
After completing his military service, Phil embarked on a successful career with Delta Airlines, where he worked diligently until his retirement. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Phil was a man of many talents and interests. He had a deep love for restoring classic cars—particularly Chevrolets from 1955 to 1960—and found joy in woodworking and playing golf. His passion for genealogy allowed him to explore and preserve his family's history.
Phil's faith was an integral part of his life. He was deeply involved in his church community and cherished the fellowship it brought him. His dedication to both his spiritual life and those around him left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Above all else, Phil was a devoted husband to his beloved wife of 60 years, Carol Stehle Phillips. Together they built a life filled with love and shared memories. He was also a proud father to their two sons, Robert Keith Phillips and Michael Scott Phillips. Phil's unwavering commitment to his family was evident in every aspect of his life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. Phillips and Harriet Patton Phillips. In addition to his wife Carol and sons Keith and Michael, Phil leaves behind countless friends and loved ones who will remember him fondly for his kindness, humor, and steadfast character.
Phil's memory will live on through the lives he touched and the legacy he leaves behind. May those who knew him find comfort in celebrating the remarkable life he led. A Memorial Service will be held on August 2, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church of Jonesboro 142 College Street. Memorial service at church on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025 at 11am.
