Bernadette (Shields) Tieff, age 78, died March 3, in West Palm Beach, Florida, from a malignant brain tumor. She was born on Staten Island, NY, March 22,1947 to Leticia and Edward Shields.
She graduated from Staten Island Community College with an RN degree in 1970. After graduating she worked at Staten Island Hospital where she met her future husband, Michael. She also worked in Belview Hospital and Beekman Downtown Hospital in NYC. Bernadette moved to the Poconos, in Pennsylvania in 1972 where she worked at Pocono Medical Center until she had her first child in 1977. Bernadette raised her two children, Michael and Matthew, in Mount Pocono, Pa. She dedicated her life to raising her two children and passed on to them, her wonderful sense of humor, which she maintained her whole life. She maintained homes in West Palm Beach, Fl., Philadelphia, Pa., and Ocean City, NJ.
Bernadette was preceded in death by her brother Thomas Shields of New Dorp, Staten Island, her brother Edward Shields of Alberta Canada and her niece Juliet Shields Collins of Staten Island, NYC.
She is survived by her sisters Eileen Mack of Jupiter, Fl, Virginia Shields of Philadelphia, Pa., and her three brothers and sisters-in-law Carolyn Shields of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada; Eugene and Gladys Shields of Staten Island, NYC; Vincent and Angelica Shields of Long Beach, NY; and Gerald and Elaine Shields of West Palm Beach, Fl.
In her memory, please do something she always enjoyed: go out to dinner and have a glass of wine. And be sure to toast to a life well-lived.
