Bernhard A. Ziegner

Bernhard “Bernie” Ziegner, 89, passed on April 15, 2026, at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, MA because of trauma suffered from a fall.

Bernie was born in the Fox Chase neighborhood of Philadelphia, PA, in 1936 and was proceeded in death by his father Charles Ziegner, born in Kiel, Germany, his mother Servanda Escaladas Rubio Ziegner, born in La Azorera, Spain, and his best friend and brother, Carl Ziegner, also born in Philadelphia. He is survived by his son, Richard Ziegner, daughter in law Carole Ziegner and granddaughter Dr. Kathryn Ziegner, all of Silverthorne, CO.

Bernie was an exceptional electrical engineer who spent his career developing products for Motorola in Scottsdale, AZ and for MACOM in Lowell, MA. In addition, he was a fiction author with thirteen published books to his name, licensed amateur radio enthusiast, collector of antique radios and enjoyed horseback riding with friends in the mountains of Montana.
