Bernice Burnett, 89, of Belleair Bluffs, Florida, passed away this past Friday, January 2, 2026.
Bernice was born on November 3, 1936 in Bad Axe, Michigan to Henry Pangborn and Jean Clark Pangborn. Bernice met her future husband, Robert Burnett, while she worked as a telephone operator for Michigan Bell and Robert was stationed in Port Huron, MI serving in the Air Force. Their phone conversations eventually led to an in-person meeting and a 65-year marriage which ended when Robert passed away in 2022.
Bernice and Robert had a passion for travel, going to Europe numerous times as well as traveling the entire United States, including trips to both Alaska and Hawaii. As Bernice and Robert got a little older, they fell in love with river cruises in the United States. Bernice particularly liked cruising the Mississippi River, and continued to do so until the year before her passing.
Bernice is survived by her children, Terry Burnett and Cheryl Burnett Ayscue, her grandchildren Patrick Ayscue and Gregory Ayscue, and her sisters Joan Roberts and Florence Pangborn.
Per her wishes, a private, immediate family only, funeral service will be held at the VA Cemetery in Bay Pines, FL, where Bernice will be interred with Robert where they can reside together forever. In lieu of flowers to the family, donations may be made to The
