Betty Louise Balla, age 95, passed away peacefully at her home in Commerce Township, Michigan, on October 27, 2025. Born on July 12, 1930, in Detroit, Michigan, she lived a long and full life surrounded by family and faith.
She was the cherished daughter of Elmo Gordon Roberts and Ida Violet Roberts. Betty grew up in a close-knit family with her siblings Max (Eleanor) Roberts, George (Beverly) Roberts, Cliff (Patricia) Roberts, Glen (Veronica) Roberts, and Beverly (Bill) Coon.
Betty was married to Lewis Robert Balla, (deceased) with whom she shared a loving home and raised their children. She was a devoted mother to daughter Carol (Richard) Harma, (deceased) son, Daniel Balla, (deceased) along with Gwen Burton and Lisa Balla
Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Kim Utterback; Scot (Tara) Burton; Steven (Hollie) Burton; Carrie Ann Balla; Lewis (Kellie) Botsford; and Shelby (Jake) Ostrovsky. She also found great joy in her great-grandchildren: Rachel Utterback, Nash Utterback, Liliana Ostrovsky, and Charlotte Ostrovsky.
Betty was a woman of deep faith and quiet strength. Her independent spirit and unwavering trust in the Lord were evident throughout her life. She brought comfort, humor, and grace to those around her.
She enjoyed many hobbies over the years. A passionate reader, she also spent countless hours knitting and crocheting. Her watercolor paintings reflected the beauty she saw in the world. Betty also delighted in traveling and shopping adventures that brought joy to her days.
A Graveside Service will be held on November 22, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Commerce Memorial Cemetery, 2537 Benstein Road, Commerce Township, Michigan.
