Betty Jane Douthitt, affectionately known as "Grammy," passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, at her home in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Betty lived a vibrant and fulfilling life of 79 years, marked by strength, independence, and an enduring love for her family.
Betty dedicated nearly four decades of her career to Mack Trucks as a Parts Specifications Analyst Leader. Her unparalleled knowledge of truck parts and meticulous attention to detail made her an invaluable asset to the company. She proudly served as a Union representative for UAW Local 677, advocating tirelessly for her Brothers and Sisters.
Family was the cornerstone of Betty's life. She shared a special bond with her brother Larry Trump of Allentown, Pennsylvania, filled with love and sibling rivalry that endured throughout their lives.
As a mother to her twin daughters Jo-Ann Goeppert and Janet Brett, she instilled resilience and determination in them. Through lessons lovingly dubbed "Betty Skills 101," she taught them survival and perseverance. Some of their most cherished memories were created at Lake Wallenpaupack, a place so dear to Betty.
Betty found immense joy in being a grandmother. Known as Grammy to Nicole Goeppert, Samantha Brett, RileyAnn Brett, and Kasey Dorney. Great-grandchildren: Jax, Ava, and Myla, she was the epitome of cool—a Grammy who loved them all so much.
One of Betty's proudest accomplishments was raising her grandson Kasey during her retirement years. He was the son of Betty's daughter, Jamie L. Dorney, 41 of Allentown who predeceased her. Betty and Kasey had a bond that was like Batman and Robin—Her guidance helped shape him into the bright young man he is today as an Engineering student in college.
Betty lived life on her own terms and brought confidence to everything she did. Whether shooting pool as "Fluff" or sitting at the poker tables as "BJD". Her love for the racetrack with Pappy (Thomas W. Murphy) created treasured memories that those who knew them, will forever hold close.
For those she met through the club, she would want everyone to raise a glass—or simply share a laugh—in celebration of the good times they all had together.
Betty is survived by her brother Larry Trump and sister Terri Meitzler; daughters Jo-Ann Goeppert and Janet Brett; son-in-law Bob Brett; granddaughters Nicole Goeppert, Samantha Brett, RileyAnn Brett; grandson Kasey Dorney; great-grandchildren Jax, Ava, and Myla; and many other beloved family members who will cherish her memory forever. She was predeceased by Thomas W. Murphy (Pappy) her husband, whom she held dear in life; and Jamie L. Dorney (daughter).
