Betty Brackett Lamb died peacefully April 2, 2026 in Sugarland, Texas at the age of 99. The second daughter of Frank & Margaret (Phillips) Parker, Betty Frank Parker was born in Houston, Texas, February 6, 1927. She graduated from Lamar High School and attended the University of Texas. She moved to Midland, Texas where she met & married her husband, Richard (Dick) Brackett in 1948. They moved to Corpus Christi where their two children, Rick & Louise, were born but settled in Portland, Texas, to raise their family. There they were members of St Christopher by the Sea Episcopal Church. Betty was active with the church, Lady’s Bridge Club, Couple’s Dance Club, and family camping trips.
Betty spent a significant part of her life as a real estate agent and later worked in a variety of retail settings which fit perfectly with her love of shopping.
After becoming a widow at 44 Betty spent many years living alone in Portland. In 1996, she moved to Carrollton, Texas where she lived with her daughter’s family. While there, at the young age of 73, Betty fell in love and married Russel Lamb. Russ was Catholic and during their marriage Betty joined the Catholic Church. The happy couple spent 5 short but fun years together travelling the U.S., visiting friends & family, and sharing a love for casinos. Following Russ’ death in 2005, Betty was sadly alone until 2014 when she moved to the Texas Hill Country to live with her daughter and husband. Once again, Betty loved living in a small town atmosphere and watching nature. In 2019 Betty moved to independent living in Bastrop to be closer to her son.
In 2023, Rick & Betty moved to Sugarland where Betty eventually moved into assisted living at The Reserve at First Colony. She spent the last 2 months of her life living in the memory care unit there.
Betty lived a long, full life and was always eager for an adventure. She loved spending time at the beach, gambling, going on cruises, and visiting wineries. Her favorite thing though was being with her family, no matter where they were.
Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Richard & Russel, her parents, her sister (Helen Shepard), and her brother-in-law (Frank Shepard). She is survived by her son, Richard F. Brackett and his sons, Ricky & Russell Brackett, her daughter, Louise (Michael) Dusing and their children, Liz (Nick) Mattei, Robert Dusing, Maggie (Adam) Spiegel, and Betty’s great granddaughters, Emma & Lily Spiegel. She also leaves behind her beloved nieces, nephews and their children, and her stepsons, Ron, Roger, and Rodney Lamb and their families.
