Betty Lou Marx
February 28, 1931 - February 19, 2026
Betty Lou Marx passed away on February 19, 2026, in Roscommon, Michigan, nine days before her 95th birthday. She was born Betty Lou to Mable (West) and Floyd Doyle in Saginaw, Michigan. She was an honor student at Saginaw High School, graduating Magna Cum Laude. She met her husband, Chester Marx, at a Polka dance. They were married on June 13, 1953. Chester preceded her in death by 7 years. Chester was a current Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, CA.
She worked at General Motors for 30 years, retiring in 1985, after which she and Chester were free to travel around the United States. They enjoyed many trips together, including Egypt, Switzerland, and Alaska.
Betty and Chester retired to Fort Myers. FL in 1991, residing in Bayside Estates.
Betty was a member of the Socialites Club, Boat Club, Euchre club, and managed event ticket sale for 20+ years. She was also a member of the Cookie Band which provided entertainment throughout their park on a band wagon. Betty will always be remembered in the park for sitting outside with her beloved dog Daisy, and greeting everyone that passed by.
Betty and Chester were active members of Unity Church of Fort Myers where they served as ushers for many years, and gave selflessly of there time, and donations.
Betty returned to Michigan after Hurricane Ian, and enjoyed time with her family going shopping, cooking out and spending time at Higgins Lake.
She will be remembered as a kind, generous, and loving wife and mother.
She is survived by her two sons, Eric and Paul, and numerous nieces and nephews.
