Betty Anne (Pike) Mealy, 81, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, January 25 at Prisma Health Cottingham Hospice House.

Betty was born in Traverse City, Michigan on December 4, 1944, to Emmitt & Gladys Pike. After high school Betty attended Marion College, Marion, IN (now Indiana Wesleyan University- IWU) in 1967 and earned her Bachelor's Degree in English. From there she went on to get her Master's Degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language in 1983 from Ball State University and finally in 1998 she earned an Ed.D. in Human Resource Management from the University of Sarasota (now Argosy Univ.).

Over the course of her career, she taught at Bethany Bible College in Sussex, New Brunswick, Canada, Kernersville Academy, Kernersville, NC, Marion College (IWU), Marion, IN, Taylor University, Upland, IN, Wesleyan Christian Academy, Highpoint, NC, High Point University, High Point, NC, Southern Wesleyan University, Central, SC, and several other universities through their online programs touching the lives of countless students with her high standards and her love for Jesus leaving a lasting impact on the lives of so many. While at SWU she served on a number of committees, including a Presidential Search Committee, held the title of Chair of the Division of Humanities for 6 years, and was elected Professor Emerita upon her retirement in May of 2014.

While at Marion College (IWU), she met the love of her life, John Charles "Chuck" Mealy. The two were married on August 19, 1967. Together they raised two amazing sons who were the joy of their lives, went on countless adventures around the world, and loved each other deeply setting a beautiful example of a Godly marriage for their boys and the many others they mentored over the 54 years of their marriage. Chuck preceded Betty in death on October 31,2021.

Betty was a long-time member of ALIVE Wesleyan Church in Central, SC. Over the years she served on a number of committees, including the Local Board of Administration. Betty was an encourager by nature and a prayer warrior. She consistently sent emails, texts, and cards to friends, family, and the pastoral staff of the church. She loved Jesus and shared His love to her last days with her care givers and everyone who came to visit her praying for them before they left. She was a spiritual rock for her family as well.

She is survived by her sons, Mark & Jennifer Mealy, Central, SC, and Gregory & Wendele Mealy, Wabash, IN. She also leaves four grandchildren, Jacob Mealy (son of Mark & Jenn), Byrn Mealy, Gabriel Mealy, and Rowyn Mealy (children of Greg & Wendele). She is also survived by one sister, Vera Augenstien, brother-in-law Larry & Linda Mealy, niece Joy & Andy Dillon, nephew Scott Mealy, and niece Angie & Jonathan Den Hartog.

A celebration of a life will be held at ALIVE Wesleyan Church on Saturday, February 28th. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 pm and the service will begin at 2:00 pm. The service will be streaming live at 2:00 pm and a recording will be posted later in the day.
