Betty Straus Tenney was born on April 18, 1919, in San Francisco, California, to Claire and Samuel Straus. She passed away quietly at home in Carlsbad, California on December 20, 2025, at the age of 106.
Betty was married for 57 years to Lester Tenney. She had been previously married to Richard Levi. She is survived by her two sons, Donald A Levi (Eileen) and Edgar S Levi (Janet); and, a step-son Glenn Tenney. She was grandmother to David Levi (Courtney), Crystal and Aaron Chevalley and Aaron Tenney; and a great-grandmother to Parker and Chloe Levi.
Betty spent 25 years living in La Costa Glen in Carlsbad, where she cultivated many meaningful friendships and was an active and engaged member of the community. She enjoyed playing tennis, mahjong, rummikub and bridge and was known for her caring warmth and involvement.
Together with her husband and other members of the community, Betty initiated Care Packages from Home, a program dedicated to supporting overseas, active servicemen and women, reflecting her deep sense of service and compassion for others.
Betty will be remembered for her dedication to family, her strong community spirit, and the lasting relationships she built throughout her life. At Betty's request, there will be no service.
