Beverly Elaine Belcher

1950 - 2026

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Beverly Elaine Belcher on April 4th, 2026, at the age of 75.

Elaine was deeply devoted to her family, her work, and her friends. Her three children and three grandchildren were the true center of her world, bringing her endless pride and joy. Through her more than 20 years as a school bus driver, she extended that same care and kindness to countless children, leaving a lasting impression on every life she touched. She also had a deep love for music - not just listening, but truly experiencing it - often exploring different instruments and genres with curiosity and enthusiasm.

Elaine lived her life as a true adventurer. With her faithful canine companion, Muir, she spent every spare moment exploring the outdoors, especially the trails and parks she loved so dearly. She found bliss in the natural world - visiting the beaver family she had watched over for years, capturing the beauty of plants and wildlife through her photography, and returning again and again to her favorite paths. The outdoors was not just a pastime for Elaine; it was where her heart truly felt at home.

She held a deep affection for Hocking Hills State Park near her hometown of Newark, Ohio - a place that stayed close to her heart throughout her life. Her love of reading began in childhood and continued throughout her years, as she eagerly explored books on topics ranging from history to biology. She delighted in learning and sharing knowledge, whether through her work as an educator at the Louisville Zoo, her presentations for the Ancient Kentucky Historical Association, or the countless journals she kept over the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Erma Jean Loughner; and her brother, James Loughner.

She is survived by her spouse, Greg Belcher; her children, Brian Belcher, Scott Belcher (Emily), and Kristen Edwards (James); her grandchildren, Matthew, Ray, and Evie; and her beloved dog, Muir.

A memorial service will be announced at a later time.
